A COOL, still Sydney afternoon provided NSW golfers with perfect conditions for Round One of the 2014/15 Golf Link Race to Bonville Series which was held at Twin Creeks Golf & Country Club.
The large and fast greens of the course were in perfect condition for our golfers. The possibility of a good score was definitely achievable for those who were able to master the course on the eve of the club championships.
Now in it’s sixth year running, and with a sold out event, the Race Series is constantly growing in popularity. The added support of both Iseekgolf and tournament co-ordinators, Social Golf Australia, have added to the growth in popularity.
This Twin Creeks event saw over 100 golfers tee it up on the day and bodes well for an exciting six round qualifying series, with the trend of full fields expected to follow at all events.
In his first ever Race Series appearance, it was Kooindah Waters member Gavin Ridling who took out the day’s Overall and A Grade honours with a scintillating 43 points.
Gavin walked away with a brand new Cobra Puma Golf stand bag, a bottle of wine courtesy of the Golf Link Wine Club, a coveted Race Series medal and also gains free entry into the NSW State Final to be held at Bonnie Doon GC.
The day’s other big winners were Richard Tyson and Mick Rykee who both compiled 42 points to take out B and C grade honours respectively. Richard and Mick both received a brand new Cobra Puma Golf travel bag and visor and a bottle of wine for their efforts.
In the first NSW instalment of the Golf Buddy Challenge it was Adrian Logue who took home the brand new Golf Buddy VS4 GPS device. He landed his ball nearest to the pin, 110cm on the par three 6th hole.
The Cobra Puma Go Looong Challenge winners were Paul Godber in the men’s division for his 265m drive. In the women’s division last year’s Go Looong Challenge national winner Ria Livanas was at it again with her 205m effort taking out the women’s competition.
