The GOLF Link Challenge Queensland
Hamilton Island

26th - 28th November 2010

Hamilton Island hosted the final GOLF Link Challenge of 2010 and players were treated to world class golf on the stunning Dent Island – Australia’s only island based championship golf course! Our seventh Challenge event to date was arguably the best yet and will live long in the player’s memories, starting with a pool side welcome party; guests were treated to the 5 star Hamilton experience.

Day 1 saw players ferried from the Hamilton Marina over to Dent Island and then driven the short distance from jetty to clubhouse, where breakfast was served overlooking the fabulous Whitsunday’s. Under blue skies players teed off on their journey into the unknown of one of Australia’s most highly anticipated golf layouts.

The Hamilton Island Golf Club offers players of all standards a true test of their game; club selection and strategy is key but golf is only half of the experience with hole after hole offering jaw dropping backdrops and unrivaled views of the Whitsunday Islands. As a testament to the challenge of the course round one’s leading score was 31 points, shot by Phillip Islands: Tim Duff (4 handicap).

Day 2 saw even better weather and players set off to make the most of the sun and try to extract some measure of revenge on the course, whilst battling for the chance to become a GOLF Link Champion. Jason Montague followed up his first round 30 points with an impressive 36 points off a handicap of 5 and in doing so narrowly took out the title from Tim Duff. The team competition was just as closely fought with ‘Gold Bullion’ led by TV host Paul ‘Fatty’ Vautin being narrowly beaten by the ‘Beer Finders’, a team of individual entrants paired together for the weekend.

A closing BBQ outside the clubhouse allowed players to enjoy more great views and reflect on a fun weekend both on and off the course, Jason Montague left with his trophy and a new set of Callaway irons whilst other prizes winners enjoyed gifts from the GOLF Link Wine Club, Beer Masons and event runner-up Tim Duff took home a Rangefinder.

2011 will offer a new selection of great GOLF Link Challenge events; keep an eye on the website for your chance to compete!
