Dodt’s runner-up finish at December’s Australian PGA and third-placed finish behind countryman Sam Brazel at the UBS Hong Kong Open have given him season earnings of €222,423.
MARC LEISHMAN PUTS FAMILY FIRST:
The 30-year-old's bid for a fourth career win and third European Tour title in Hong Kong came unstuck at the 72nd hole. Dodt - who ultimately would have needed a birdie to get into a playoff with Brazel - found trees from the tee and closed with a bogey.
Dodt is all but assured of keeping his card beyond the current season but would be setting himself a more optimistic goal than simply survival.
At the very least, he would be hoping to improve upon his previous best season of 70th on the 2010 money list.
Some strong finishes in 2017 would also give the golfing public a closer look at Dodt's relaxed manner off the course.
After jumping to an opening round lead at the Australian PGA, Dodt declared his intentions for that afternoon were not to practise, but rather return to his apartment and unwind by enjoying a few rum & colas on his balcony.
