A HOT and sunny Melbourne afternoon, as well as an extremely tough Victoria GC layout, proved a stern test for Victorian golfers in round two of the 2014/15 Golf Link Race to Bonville.
The course and staff were wonderful hosts and golfer’s had even travelled from interstate to play on the prestigious layout.
On a day when most players struggled, only two golfers managed to play to handicap and, backing up his top five finish at Metropolitan, it was A grader Adam Sutherland who won the day on a count back from B grader Irene Day. Both golfers managing a hard fought 36 points.
Adam walked away with a brand new Cobra Puma Golf stand bag, a bottle of wine courtesy of the Golf Link Wine Club, a coveted Race Series medal and free entry into the Victorian State Final to be played at Yarra Yarra GC in March, 2015.
In C grade it was Angelo Angelodemou who took the win with 35 points and both he and B grade winner Irene Day secured a brand new Cobra Puma Golf “Boston Bag”, visor and a bottle of wine.
With two top five finishes after only two events, Adam Sutherland has opened up a handy lead in the Order of Merit. However, with four events still to be played, the title is still wide open.
The second instalment of the Cobra Puma Go Looong Challenge saw strong drives on the 18th from James Carroll (262m) in the men’s division and Irene Day (184m) in the women’s.
The Golf Buddy Challenge was hosted on the par three 4th and, with a distance of 150cm, it was Craig Cameron who took home the brand new Golf Buddy VS4 GPS device.
