These emails are something you should have on hand when using the GOLF Link system so that you can easily solve these common issues as they arise.
Why not print these out and put them up next to your workstation?
We have added an archive of previous weeks' updates to the GOLF Link website.

This week on GOLF Link HOT TOPICS:
Resigning and Deleting Members
This week we will be covering the correct procedure for dealing with members who are resigning from your club.
Invalidating the Golf Link number
The first step you need to take when you are resigning a member from your system is to change their “Playing Status” and “Membership Status” from Yes to No.
This is done differently in each type of Tier 3 system; most systems require you to change this manually while some systems automatically do this when you
delete resigned members from your system. If you are unsure how to do this in your system you should consult your documentation or ask your provider for help.
Changing these two fields has two effects. Firstly the golfer will not be able to use the Golf Link number to play at other clubs, secondly you will not be
charged the $2.75 fee for this member.
Deleting Members from Your System
Before you delete a member from your system you need to make sure you have followed the steps above.
Once you have done this you can go ahead and remove them from your system. Some systems have the ability to archive or change the status of members when they resign rather
than completely deleting them. This may be preferable as members may wish to rejoin your club.
When you delete a member from your system you should know that you are not deleting the member from the Golf Link database, only your club’s database.
If you need a number deleted for whatever reason you will need to contact the Golf Link help desk, however it is important to note that we can not delete
members who have history within the last 2 years except in the case of a deceased member.
Reusing/Recycling Golf Link Numbers
Before you plan to reuse a Golf Link number you should first check the Golf Link website to see if the number is free. If the number is in use and has history within the last
two years then you will not be able to recycle this number. If the number has an unallocated handicap or has had no history for the last two years then you will be able to use this number.
If you would like to reuse a number that is unallocated or has no history for two years then you will need to contact the Golf Link help desk so that we can delete the number for you.
Advice for Members Leaving Your Club
If you have a member who no longer wishes to be a member of your club it may be a good idea to notify them of the fact that their history will remain on Golf Link for at least two years
should they desire to join a Golf Link club again.
It is also important to tell them that it is imperative that they notify any new club that they currently have, or have had, a Golf Link number to ensure that their history is transferred to the new club correctly.
We hope you have found these weekly updates a useful service and we where hoping that we could get some feedback on how useful these updates have been and if there are anyways in which we could improve them.
If you have any feedback please send it to helplevel2@golflink.com.au.
