Accordingly, we thought we would provide you with some extra help by informing you of the correct procedures for these common problems along with a few tips from us. These emails are something you should have on hand when using the GOLF Link system so that you can easily solve these common issues as they arise. This week on GOLF Link HOT TOPICS: Duplicate Membership Number

We will be covering what to do when you see an error message saying "Duplicate Membership Number". This error message may also be accompanied by the error code "20". This error may occur when you are creating or transferring a new member to your club.

Creating or Transferring New Home Member

The error message "Duplicate membership number" simply means that the membership number you are trying to allocate for the new member is already in use by another member of your club. Even if the number you are allocating is free in your system a golfer using that number may exist in GOLF Link.

The first thing you should do when you encounter this problem is search your system for the number you are trying to use, if it exists you should pick another number for this new golfer or, if the golfer currently using that membership number is no longer a member, you could delete them from your system and try to allocate the number to the new golfer again.

If the number does not exist in your system or deleting the member currently using the number does not solve the problem then this means that the membership number is currently taken by a member at your club in the GOLF Link system. You should either choose another number for the golfer or contact the GOLF Link help desk so that they we can delete the golfer currently using the membership number for you.

Note: GOLF Link cannot delete GOLF Link numbers that have history within the last 2 Years without specific confirmation from Golf Australia.
