There are two separate causes for this error message; one occurs when you are searching for a GOLF Link number and the other occurs while you are transferring a member, both are covered below.

Transferring New Home Member

If you receive an error message saying "Invalid GOLF Link Number" while transferring a new home member, it generally means the name details that you are uploading to GOLF Link do not exactly match what is already stored for that golfer.

The following are the possible causes for an "Invalid GOLF Link Number" while transferring a new home member:

  • The 'First Name' does not match
  • The 'Surname' does not match
  • The GOLF Link number you have entered does not exist

For example, 'Tony Smith' wants to transfer his home club. When his new home club uploads the transfer, they use the name 'Anthony Smith'. The difference in the First Name will result in an error message saying "Invalid GOLF Link Number". Similarly, if you where transferring 'Jane MacDonald' and the previous club had 'Jane McDonald' the difference in Surname will result an error message saying "Invalid GOLF Link Number".

If you are still receiving an "Invalid GOLF Link number" error message; ring the golfer's home club or the GOLF Link help desk and obtain the correct name details. Once you have done this, re-enter the correct details and try again.
