Rules and Format

  • There will be 5 qualifying events run between September and January 2011/12, after the final qualifying round, the leading 40 players plus ties on the Order of Merit will all be invited to enter the state final at Kingston Heath Golf Club plus players who have entered 3 or more qualifying rounds.
  • Each event will be handicapped and run as an individual stableford, events are open to all golfers who hold a valid GOLF Link Handicap or Golf Access Handicap
  • Order of Merit Points will be awarded based on a players position within the total field

Points

  • Points will be awarded in the followig order. All players will earn a minimum of 20 Order of Merit Points.

Grades will be based on the following Handicap grades:

* A Grade: + Handicaps to 12, B Grade: 13 to 20, C Grade: 21 to 36(men) 21 to 45 (women)

 

  • The Order of Merit leader board will be updated after each qualifying round
  • 10 Bonus points will be awarded for NTP, LD and Grade winners on the day. (Daily event winner is not entitled to bonus grade winner points.)
  • Daily Overall winner is not eligible for grade bonus points. Bonus points do not count towards overall daily prize winners.
  • Each of the 5 qualifying event winners will automatically gain entrance into the state final, which will be free of charge
  • Any players that compete in 3 or more of the qualifying rounds will automatically be eligible for the final as with the Order of Merit qualifiers,
  • Players must comply to the rules and regulations regarding dress, etiquette and play on the day at each course used in the Race to Cypress Lakes, details of these rules can be found on each club's website
  • All Mates Members are eligible for a $20 discount off the full entrance fee at each of the qualifying events, only Mates Members can obtain this discount and the booking system will recognize all Mates users via their GOLF Link Number. Please note that only one booking can be made on each GOLF Link Number per event (to book other friends in, you will need their GOLF Link Number)
  • In the event of a tie at all events, a count back will be used to decide the winners and final finishing positions, the count back will use back 9, back 6 or back 3 to determine results
  • The event organizer's decisions are final in regards to all rulings and results, some local rules may be used at each event and this decision will be made on the advice of each club concerned
  • Places in the National Final will be awarded to the VIC Order of Merit winner and the top 3 players at the state final.
  • In the event any of the final qualifiers are not able to attend the final, their place may be offered to the first non-automatic qualifier and so on down the list. All decision's on player eligibility for the final are at the discretion of tournament organisers

Entry fee to the state finals will be accoring to a players position in the order of merit. The table below is a breakdown of the cost to each states final:
